I watched a lot of Youtube videos on how poor most mainstream hitch locks are. This US-made lock is the real thing. I own two. I fully recommend you look into this design and understand how it works. I have a travel trailer and a contractor trailer filled with $20k of audio equipment. Both have these guards/locks. - AM
No way to know for sure if it's theft proof, but it's certainly a monster - and if I was looking to steal a trailer, I'd pick one that didn't have this heavy duty "theft deterrent" on it! The fact that the key is on the bottom is great. All you have to do is just memorize which way to orient the key before reaching under, and you won't have to stand on your head.
